Exciting news! The results of the Best Companies awards 2022 are in, and Gearset has been recognised with an array of awards:

- 4th Best Tech Company to work for in the UK
- 3rd Best Company to work for in the East of England
- Learning and Development Special Award
Results from the Best Companies survey
Since the rankings are determined by employees’ responses to the Best Companies survey, these awards reflect how we all feel about working at Gearset. Best Companies are more interested in hearing from employees than employers — they believe (like us!) that happy and engaged employees are the key to successful companies.
Let’s dive into the key areas that were highlighted in our survey feedback, to show what life’s like at Gearset.
A healthy work-life balance
Everyone wants to have a healthy work-life balance, and Gearset tries to make that as easy as possible. The Best Companies survey shows that the Gearset team are ‘happy with the balance between my work and home life’. True flexible working, automatically approved annual leave, being trusted to manage your own time, and lots of wellbeing support programmes are just some of the ways we encourage our team to find a healthy work-life balance.
Confidence in the company
Another area highlighted was how many of the team are ‘feeling confident in the leadership skills of the senior management team’. This confidence is a reflection of the work Kevin Boyle, our CEO, and the rest of the senior leadership team have done over the past year to build on the amazing success Gearset has already achieved. They’ve created a clear roadmap of where we’re headed, which means everyone can see how they can help to make that happen.
We enjoy our work
While we all take our work seriously at Gearset, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The survey revealed that many of us think our teams are ‘fun to work with’. Since we work together so collaboratively, there’s always lots of communication going on and these chats always feature a good dose of humour. It’s one thing to be able to have fun with your colleagues, but quite another to have fun working with them day in, day out. Outside of our daily work, we also host events like our monthly Drink & Learn, which is a lighthearted opportunity to learn about other’s work, and regular company meals and parties.
Supporting our team
When it comes to supporting our team, many folks across the company agreed that ‘my manager ensures that I have the resources I need to do my job’. This was highlighted by the special Learning and Development award we received for our outstanding work to support our team with learning and development. This is something we’re particularly proud of as one of our core values — Gearset, team, self — is focused on helping each other to improve.
We’re always looking to improve
We’re delighted to have received these Best Companies awards, and even more so that Gearset really is a great company to work for, with a bunch of people who are great to work with. At the same time, we don’t want to be complacent. We can always do better and find new ways of helping everyone across the company to thrive. As the company grows even more, we want to develop in all areas — including the engagement and wellbeing of the whole team.
