UX Designer

A full-time hybrid role in Cambridge, UK

Our UX team is responsible for making the experience of using our platform simple, intuitive and delightful for all of our customers. We do that by helping each other deliver consistently outstanding work. We’re confident in our platform, market potential and we have big plans for the future which is why we are looking for another UX designer to join the team.

What’s the opportunity for a UX Designer at Gearset?

  • Join our growing and experienced UX team, laser-focused on delighting our users, and always ready and available to support you
  • You’ll own & drive the full design process from discovery through to delivery: turning research insights into ideas, designing the workflows and UI for features and getting them shipped in product releases
  • Partner with product managers to research and understand the jobs to be done for our customers
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ship projects that help address customer needs
  • This role comes with plenty of room for growth and you’ll have ownership of design decisions in your work

What you’ll achieve

  • Working with customers to understand their needs; you’ll plan & conduct generative product research with product managers
  • Iterating on ideas, with peers, to solve those needs; you’ll share & seek feedback on work with other designers, product managers and engineers
  • Prototyping solutions to validate their value with users; you’ll organise & lead evaluative research with engineering teams, focusing on target users
  • Collaborating with teams to get the right solution shipped on our platform; you’ll pair with & help engineers get features into the hands of our customers
  • Advocate and initiate new design and engineering work to improve shipped projects; you’ll champion consistency & quality of experience to raise the bar for quality at Gearset

About you

  • You are enthusiastic about working with customers to build and deliver the right solution that empowers them
  • You can use Figma to create ideas for design work and are comfortable working with HTML & CSS to finesse the design details in code 
  • Love designing simple, intuitive and delightful user interfaces & care about design details 
  • Are pragmatic when it comes to design choices and make objective design decisions, always advocating for the best possible user experience
  • Have experience shipping products and working in a continuous development environment

Great to haves

  • Experience working on technical applications or developer tools
  • Have experience of working with hosted (SaaS) products 

Salary, benefits and hours

  • Salary is £45,000 - £65,000 per annum depending on experience
  • You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in our Cambridge office, with the option of flexible home working
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
