Let's take a look at Gearset's precision deployment functionality and how it works to easily deploy layouts to Salesforce.

Once you've done a comparison between your source and target orgs, you'll see Gearset's usual side by side comparison screen.

If we click on the layout component, you'll see there are a number of viewing options.

XML, object, and layout view.

You'll also notice that there are little check boxes next to each specific component.

These allow you to choose which ones you want to deploy to your org and also which ones you want to leave behind. This means you won't take across changes that aren't ready or overwrite a colleague's hard work. You'll notice a link icon appears next to some of the checkboxes.

This means that this component has been moved within the layout and Gearset is showing you its new position.

You can easily flick between the new and old position by clicking the link. Once you are happy with the sections of the layout you want to deploy, just carry on with the deployment like you would with any other metadata in Gear Set. Deploying layouts really is as easy as that.
