Deepak Veera (Principal Consultant, Cloud Giants) shares how Gearset for CPQ has changed the game for his team, by solving the issue of not having a native solution in Salesforce to deploy complex metadata and CPQ deployments. Technology done well ought to be simple and intuitive. It only means something if it's usable.
My name is Deepak Veera. I'm a principal consultant at Cloud Giants. We're a small Salesforce consulting firm. The company will go to Salesforce, buy their product, and they will reach out to us to help them with the implementation.
Now Salesforce does a lot of things well. It does not do some things well, and one of those things is deployments. You're spending a lot of time doing deployments manually. What that really meant for our consultants was on a given Friday, for example, you're spending the entire day essentially gathering everything. Gearset was already an industry leader in metadata deployments. With CPQ, there's a need for data deployments in there as well.
In their platform, they both look the same. They function the same. Gearset is deceptively simple, like in the sense that it is very user intuitive. For us, our job is a function of time.
We bill our clients for time. When you are not using a tool like Gearset CPQ, you're spending a lot of that time doing these deployments manually. What that really means for our clients is they get to recognize less value. With a tool like Gearset CPQ, we are able to do this faster and better.
Things that would take us four hours like we do in fifteen to thirty minutes. Gearset CPQ frees up time that helps us scale and grow better. I don't want people working on weekends. That's not something we promote as a company.
To provide a good tool that makes lives predictable means that we are meeting client expectations and deadlines is a huge pain point solved for me.
