Better visibility whilst validating salesforce packages in Gearset

Matt Guy on January 25th 2019

Have you found yourself wanting to know which components in your Salesforce deployment package have failed to validate, or if any of your tests have failed before your validation concludes? We know some of you have, and after some fantastic customer feedback we decided to update the validating page behaviour within Gearset.

Gone are the days of a single spinner and milestone string! Now you’ll be able to see live component validation and running apex test results whilst waiting for your validation result. With this being introduced, hopefully you’ll find yourself double checking your deployment status on Salesforce less frequently!

Within our new UI overhaul, you’ll find two brand new tabs whilst validating your packages. The first will display the progress of components that you’ve selected, and the second will show Apex tests along with any error messages or stack traces for any that have failed. We’ve also decided to add the execution time to the Apex Tests tab for better visibility into which tests eat up more of your time whilst waiting for you validation to finish.

Kick off a validation and see it in action

There are no changes to the manual validation workflow within Gearset. Before you deploy just start a validation against one of your Salesforce environments to see the changes we’ve made.

See test results as they run over the Metadata API.
