One of the last big roadmap releases for 2015 is our much-anticipated org monitoring service. It’s called Insight for Gearset, and we’re excited to announce it has now launched into our preview program.

Here are just a few things you can do with Insight

- Be notified when your Production org changes

- Track all deployments, across all tools, with a complete audit trail

- Download change reports for an org, providing a detailed change log

- Catch undocumented or unscheduled changes directly in Production

- Avoid overwriting others’ changes by always being aware of updates

- See who changed what, when, and why in your orgs

Track all org changes with Insight from Gearset

Keeping track of org changes is difficult

Keeping track of changes to all your Salesforce environments can be tricky. With updates coming from the development team, sandboxes to refresh for testing, and a crucial release to make this week, the last thing you want on your mind is whether someone has made undocumented changes to your production environment. At best, it’ll add frustrating hours to your day; at worst, that release weekend is going to be a long one. That’s where Insight comes in.

Automatic org change alerts with Insight

With Insight, you’ll get notified as soon as anything changes in your specified environments. See who made the change, when it happened, and what objects were altered. View a full change history and download the reports to keep track of changes over time. No more overwriting undocumented changes, no more unexpected deployment failures, no more long release weekends. All it takes is a little Insight.

Activating Insight on your account

Insight is currently in preview. To activate Insight on your account, send an email to [email protected] or drop us a message via the live chat asking to be part of our preview program.

Setting up your first Insight alert

Click on the new Monitor organizations tab in the app, then click Add new job. Name the job, choose the org to monitor, select the metadata objects to include, and set notification options (email, SMS, Chatter and Slack), then click Save. That’s it - Gearset will automatically monitor your org for any changes, and notify you of any changes.

Viewing an org’s change history

Click on any saved monitoring job to jump into the change history. This shows you the status of your org at each monitoring job and the comparison results between the two snapshots. Clicking on each comparison result will show the diff viewer so you can really understand the changes. See who changed what, when, and why.

View changes made through Change Sets, ANT and more

The beauty of Insight is it captures all changes, no matter how they were made. So if one of your team works in Change Sets, and another makes changes directly in Production, you’ll still get notified of their activity. It’s the perfect org audit trail and change log.
